There are many different ways to celebrate the 4th of July. Last night, a group of us went to the annual Stanford Lively Arts celebration. After a picnic, some great jazz music and fireworks, we reflected on the occassion: we were 13 people (7 adults and 6 kids) sitting on a 10x10’ piece of grass that we were lucky to find. For this, we paid $346. It was difficult to listen to the music because everybody was there for the party, but the Jazz served as nice background music.
Perhaps it’s that feeling of “togetherness” and patriotism that takes us there. There’s no real rational reason.
