If I talk about large companies, it’s usually within the context of their acquiring smaller ones… This link appeared in my inbox a few days ago. The story is 2 weeks old, but who cares.
Intel’s Haifa R&D center has always been perceived in our local Israeli market as absolutely top notch. Recruiting heavily from the technion’s top graduates, Intel is definitely a place where great minds want to go. Yes, Intel competes for talent with start-ups, and others, but undoubtedly this design center is a great contributor to our industry. Not only in training engineers at technology’s cutting edge, but also in process, product delivery and ultimately bringing new technologies to market.
I’m often asked about the advantages of Israeli R&D, compared to alternative outsourcing options. My response is always the same: “You don’t outsource to Israel”. We certainly don’t have the number of engineers as others, and cost-wise, we’re much more expensive… but, if it works, it’ll take you “where no one has gone before”.
