I haven’t taken a train in a very, very long time. Today, instead of driving to Beer Sheba, I opted public transportation. The only comment that I have - why isn’t the train in Israel expanded so that I don’t have to drive to work!!!
Actually, the problem extends well beyond the train. Theoretically, I could take the train to Herzelia, and continue on foot (or cab) to the office. Only, when you calculate the difference in time, there’s no benefit. The entrance to the Herzelia office park is a disaster! I think that all the offices should leave! It’s a disgrace that the Herzelia municipality allows this situation to continue (I actually voted once for the mayor who’s allowing this to continue – how embarrassing). It takes (by car) 20+ minutes to just get on to the main road from our office, and a similar amount of time to get into the park. Meetings never start on time (everybody is always stuck in traffic), it’s a waste of time, gas, etc., etc.
What I would like to see: take the train to the Herzlia station, continue by shuttle or light rail to the office park, and do so within the 3–5 minutes that it should take. Well, it’s a nice dream……
(This blog entry was written while riding the train, which is packed with soliders returning to their bases after the weekend. Many are sitting on the floor – not enough seats. Worth mentioning, that the parking lot was full, and I parked my car in what is not an official spot… this is Israel after all ).
Welcome to the Middle East...
